Apprentice Technician
Start Date: April 1 to June 1, 2026
G3 Transmission & Diesel is a family owned, veteran owned shop specializing in diesel, gas, transmission, and performance work. We are growing our transmission division and are willing to wait for the right person.
We are not just hiring a position. We are developing long term technicians.
Position Overview
This role is focused on the transmission side of the shop.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Transmission removal and replacement
• Assisting with R&R operations
• Light repairs and general maintenance
• Fluid services and inspections
• Shop organization and support
As reliability, mechanical competence, and attention to detail are demonstrated, there is clear opportunity to advance into transmission overhaul and performance applications.
Growth here is earned through consistency, professionalism, and skill development.
Experience
Applicants must have prior automotive experience.
This can include:
• Professional shop experience
• Trade or technical background
• Significant hands on experience working on your own vehicles
• Diesel or performance related work
• Documented mechanical projects
You do not need to be a transmission builder. You do need a solid mechanical foundation and an understanding of how vehicles come apart and go back together properly.
We value honesty and technical credibility. Be straightforward about your experience and strengths.
Technology & Diagnostics
We operate in a modern, technology driven shop environment.
You must be comfortable with:
• Scan tools and diagnostic software
• Online service information systems
• Digital inspections and documentation
• Email and written communication
Strong computer proficiency is required. Technology is part of how we operate every day.
Professional Expectations
Our shop operates in a non traditional environment where technicians may interact with customers. Professionalism, communication skills, and respectful conduct are expected at all times.
We operate a sober work zone.
Employment Structure
• Full time, hourly position
• Pay based on experience
• Overtime paid according to law
All new hires begin on a 90 day trial basis. Successful completion transitions into an apprenticeship phase with a clear development path toward transmission building and performance work.
Employment with G3 Transmission & Diesel is at will.
Requirements
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Driving record will be verified
• Must pass a background check
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds
• Strong work ethic
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with computers and modern diagnostic tools
Salary:
$18 - 22 Dollars per hour. Depending on experience.
